March 2024 – Green Futures Festival
‘This is what is really happening… this is what you don’t see on the news.’ The attendee leaned in, whispering as if sharing a secret, towards the end of the Green Futures Festival. ‘Maybe it isn’t happening everywhere, but it’s happening here. It gives me hope.’
The East Lothian Climate Hub held the inaugural Green Futures Festival on the 16th March – a gorgeous day belying weather predictions of cold, wind, and rain. About 300 people made their way to Queen Margaret University in Musselburgh…

July 2024 – A Snapshot Story on Climate Action in East Lothian
The Climate Hub team spent 2 months meeting groups from across East Lothian that are carrying out incredible work related to climate change, the environment and related matters (food, land, poverty, energy, etc). The purpose of this was to build a picture of what is already happening, what challenges groups are up against, and what could happen if we could pool our collective resources, skills and visions.
This Snapshot Story maps the climate and environmental work taking place across the region, based on these 43 meetings with ELCAN members and some other key initiatives.

September 2024 – East Lothian-wide Vision for a Thriving, Sustainable Future
Over the summer we have been co-creating with you a Vision for a Thriving, Sustainable Future, imagining what our home could look like in the year 2040. To achieve this, we gathered people’s visions and ideas at events, stalls and kids workshops. These visions have now been collated into a story written by legendary local storyteller Tim Porteus and published in the East Lothian Courier. This story, and all of the stories that were weaved together to create it, will be shared with secondary school students across East Lothian, and they will be invited to create their own creative artefacts as part of our ‘Climate Creativity Competition’ in October 2024.
