Food - Collective Action

Food

Food is central to all our lives. What we can afford to eat, how food growing impacts our land and biodiversity, to the quality of our food and our food miles, are all central questions to finding a fair and just way to grow and eat for all of us in East Lothian.

East Lothian Food Growers Collective

The East Lothian Food Growers Collective is an initiative that looks to bring together local growers together to learn, exchange and support each other. This is aimed at local growers, such as community gardens, community farms, allotments, community orchards, school gardens or anyone that produces with sustainable intentions (even if they are on the beginning of the journey to get there!). This is an open space of learning and mutual support, to help us increase, grow and upscale both local growing and access to local food in East Lothian.

The Food Growers Collective will meet regularly at on site visits, have knowledge exchanges between local growers, be a place of mutual support such as advice and resources, and create space for thinking about more ambitious action across East Lothian. We are aware of the lapover between food growing and biodiversity and will share opportunities between these themes and have the occasional joint site visit.

Please sign up if you’d like to join the Food Growers Collective.
