The ELCAN Policy Circle was formed last summer. It is made of volunteers from ELCAN member groups and addresses nature and climate issues, important to the local communities of East Lothian. Since forming, we have been developing and refining our areas of focus, and how to be most effective.
Some of the actions we have carried out so far include: participation in the Local Biodiversity Action Plan, requesting ELC planning and housing developers enhance nature and climate in their design and delivery, signing local and nation (mainly on oil and gas and nature) and responding to consultations.
If you want to get involved in the Policy Circle’s actions or particularly concerned about a specific local issue, get in touch: tess@eastlothianclimatehub.org
We are currently focussing and scoping out the following areas of work, and are also open to consider other issues too:
- Biodiversity & housing developments
- ELC Glyphosate use
- Data Centre development
- Planning & LDP2: in general and including specific developments and policy compliance
- Food systems and resilience in East Lothian
