Ocean with David Attenborough: Free Public Screening in Tranent

Ocean with David Attenborough: Free Screening in Tranent's Fraser Centre

We are thrilled to be screening the film Ocean, on Friday 8th May 2026, the 100th birthday of David Attenborough.

David Attenborough has been a heartfelt advocate of the natural world for his long life, and throughout the modern environmentalism era. As well as being a film of great beauty and discovery, it gives hope for nature.

We will have a discussion after the event, which will be hosted by the Climate Hub, and both ELCAN members and the public are very welcome to join.

This is a free public event facilitated by Revive the Ocean and the East Lothian Climate Hub.

This is David Attenborough’s greatest message of hope – revealing 100 years of incredible ocean discovery and why there’s nowhere more important for all life on Earth than the ocean.

Co-produced by Silverback Films and Open Planet Studios, Ocean with David Attenborough showcases the wonder of life under the seas and exposes the realities and challenges facing our ocean as never-before-seen, from destructive fishing techniques to mass coral reef bleaching.

Yet the story is one of optimism, with Attenborough pointing to inspirational stories from around the world to show that the ocean can recover to a glory beyond anything anyone alive has ever seen.

“My lifetime has coincided with the great age of ocean discovery. This could be the moment of change. Nearly every country on Earth has just agreed, on paper, to achieve this bare minimum and protect a third of the ocean. Together, we now face the challenge of making it happen.” –  David Attenborough.
