Vistiting ELCAN member Fairhill Rise

Fairhill Rise is a land-based day support service for adults with additional needs, near Haddington.

The Climate Huh visited new ELCAN member, Fairhill Rise, last week, and was blown away but its biodiversity, its different habitats and the work it does with its participants. Fairhill Rise is a land-based day support service for adults with additional needs, set within 60 acres of bio-dynamically managed woodland, meadows and gardens in Pishwanton Wood, near Haddington. Their work centres around practical, climate-conscious land skills including organic and biodynamic food growing, composting and soil care, seed saving and orchard management.

Biodiversity is at the heart of the site. They care for mixed woodland, animal habitats, and productive gardens, working with natural systems to increase soil health and ecological diversity. Everything is hands-on and community-focused, supporting people to build skills, confidence and a meaningful connection to land, food and place.
